WWDC 2023: Apple Announces New Software, Hardware, and Services
Apple's annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) kicked off on Monday, June 5, with a keynote address from CEO Tim Cook. Cook and other Apple executives announced a number of new software updates, as well as new hardware, including a new MacBook Air and a new M2 Ultra chip.
Software Updates
Apple announced new versions of its operating systems for all of its major products, including iOS 17, iPadOS 16, macOS Ventura, watchOS 9, and tvOS 16. The new software updates include a number of new features and improvements, such as:
iOS 17 includes a new lock screen with widgets, as well as new features for Messages, Photos, and Maps.
iPadOS 16 adds Stage Manager, a new multitasking feature that allows users to work with multiple apps at the same time.
macOS Ventura includes a new Stage Manager feature, as well as new features for Mail, Messages, and Safari.
watchOS 9 adds new health features, as well as new workout types and a new sleep tracking feature.
tvOS 16 adds new gaming features, as well as new features for Fitness+ and HomeKit.
New Hardware
Apple also announced a new MacBook Air, which is the first Mac to be powered by the new M2 chip. The new MacBook Air is thinner and lighter than the previous model, and it features a new design with a larger display and a new keyboard.
Apple also announced the M2 Ultra chip, which is the most powerful chip that Apple has ever made. The M2 Ultra chip is made up of two M2 Max chips that have been connected together using Apple's UltraFusion technology.
